Alision Denham at 40 & of a pale sallow complexion is much distressd with tenesmus which obliges her to go to stool 50 or 60 times a day. During that time she has violent pain in her abdomen & in the small of her back & these pains extend to her legs & thighs. At times she complains of Dyspnoea & headach. She has frequent eructations & is affected with great prostration of strength Pulse about 70 & very small Appetite much impaird, with great thirst & she is prevented from sleeping by the tenesmus. Urine in small quantity & she is affected with a sense of heat in the discharge of it. About six weeks ago she had her menstrual discharge which appeard she says, three weeks later than the usual period. It continued to flow for three weeks, it was much encreased in quantity & of a considerable part of the blood discharged was in a coagulated state. During the discharge she was remarkably costive. Upon the discharge easing she was first attackd with the Tenesmus. She ascribes the affection of the menstrual discharge to cold to which she was exposed, & attributes her other complaint to the excessive evacuation Cap. om. m. Pulv. Crem Tart coch [pav] [iii] & om. n. Pil Theb. gr X. March 10th. She has had no return of the Tenesmus since the use of the pills. She has at present one or two stools a day. But her belly is bound.
