    No25 Janr 5 1786.

    Agnes Turner at 32 a married woman who has had eight children, is affected with swelling now principally confined to her abdomen & face.

    Towards evening her lower extremities also swell, but generally subside while she is in a horizontal posture during the night. She likewise complains of a prickling sensation in her lower extremities & in her hands particularly towards the points of her fingers & toes

    She is also often affected with trembling of her hands & since the swelling commenced her extremities & belly, always feel cold. She is frequently affected with vomiting particularly in the morning.

    Pulse 90 & small, eyes languid, great thirst, appetite bad, sleeps tolerably well, Menses have been wanting these three months. Urine scarce & of a high colour & feels hot when passing.

    The above complaints began about two years & a half ago

    But she thinks they have been all much aggravated since her last pregnancy.

    She was then delivered of a very delicate child which died in a few days. She does not think that she is pregnant at present & she knows no cause for her complaints.

    13. Has been entirely free from the vomiting, since she began the mixture & all her other symptoms are much [ease]

    Though she still complains of pains in differ parts of her body & of some [illegible] of the abdomen

    Janr 20th Had some return of the vomiting after taking her mixture. But in other respects she is much easier. Her menstrual discharge appeard on Wednesday last & still continues. At present she complains only of pains in her limbs. Inter. Mist. & hab. Ungt. Terebinth cum Opio ℥ ii. illen. p. ap. dolent.

    27. Thinks the pain of her limbs rather encreased, since the use of the ointment. But her other complaints continue easier.

    Febr 3d. The pain of her limbs are considerably aggravated though she has regularly used the Anodyne balsam & she is more distressd with the vomiting. Interm. Med.

    10. Has taken the powders & pills as directed. But her symptoms are nothing alleviated, & she complains particularly of much uneasiness in her feet.

    17. Was affected on Monday last with convulsive fits which continued for the greater part of the day. The pains of her legs still continue very severe. Interm. Med &

    24 Has had no more of the convulsive attacks but her pains are nothing alleviated, [since] she began the use of the pills

    March 3d Has taken the pills regularly, but her pains are nothing alleviated & she is in general affected with severe vomiting upon taking any food. Belly now regular & she sleeps much, particularly in the day time
