1786
No15 Decr 1st 1786
Jean Frazer at 26 of a middle stature, with black hair, a full face & ruddy complexion, is attackd commonly once in eight days, with fits upon which she falls down & during their continuance she is deprived of all sense & power of voluntary motion. But they are attended with the discharge of a considerable quantity of saliva. The duration of the fits is various sometimes lasting half an hour at other times not above three minutes. After remaining some time in this condition she awakes as if from a sound sleep without the recollection of any circumstance that happened either previous to the fit or during its continuance. But she feels herself confused & weak & she is much affected with headach which does not leave her for the remainder of the day. She says she is sensible of the approach of the fit by a sickness at stomach which is soon followed by a trembling & weakness of her whole body & by a dazzling of her eyes which represent objects as much enlarged in size, & even for the whole day preceding the attack she is affected with sickness & confusion of head. But in the intervals between fits before these threatnings commence she enjoys good health. Pulse about 100 & small. Belly & Menses regular. She has been subjected to these fits for upwards of three years, which however within these five or six months past, are much encreased both in frequency & duration, at first occurring only once in six weeks or a month. Since they became more frequent she is much inclined to drowsiness & her mental faculties seem to be somewhat impaird. Cap. Pil e Cupro. I. om m & [ves] 9.
