    No5 Novr 3d 1786

    Eliz. Jardine at 16 with light hair & eyes, of an appearance rather delicate, & tall for her age has frequent cough & dyspnoea, with pretty free expectoration of a matter of a yellowish colour. She complains also of pain in her breast, in her loins & in the lower part of her belly.

    She is also affected with the universal lassitude on the slightest exertion, & with frequent faintness & oppression about the praecordia.

    She has frequent attacks of cold fits followed by heat & sweating & attended with headach & flushing of her cheeks. She particularly sweats much in the morning.

    Pulse 146 & rather small, Appetite bad but she has considerable thirst. Skin at present cool. Tongue clean & moist, Belly regular. She has seen nothing of the menstrual discharge for these six months.

    She was first attackd with the cough & pain of her back, about twelve months ago, when attending her brother who died of Phthisis.

    The cough has continued since that time & the other symptoms have gradually superveened.

    She has used no medicines.

    Cap. Pulv. G. Myrrh. comp. coch parv bis indies.

    Novr 10. The powders sit easily on her stomach & she is less distressed with the cough. P.130 & very small. Cont. Pulv. G. Myr. u. a.

    24 Has no inconvenience from the powders. Her cough is much diminishd, & she is not now affected with the morning sweats. Belly regular. Appetite encreased, & she complains less of weakness. P.100

    Cont. Med. u. a.

    Decr 2. She has continued the powders regularly & her cough & other symptoms are much relievd.

    P.100 belly regular. But there is no return of the menstrual evacuation.
