Disease of this patient evid a [peculr] affect.

Consists almost entirely in [sever] cough.

For to this may I appreh refer pain of back breast & head.

Although Phthisis an [imed] [dan] yet from diff circum inclind to view this as merely catarhal.

And to that compl. would [ap] that with this patient strong tend

For in former winters had been repeatedly subj to it.

With this idea of compl. & judging from what has already happened to pat. natur disp to fav prognos.

At same time when catarrh severe as in pres inst. will often contin for consid length of time

Is especl apt to do so when has had freq. recurr.

And partic during cold & [variab] weather.

Hence will not be disapp [alth] unable to accompl speedy cure.

That with one in situat of our pat. necess a good deal [ex.] will very much depend on state of weather.

Mild [temperta] as giving [pers] free circulat on surf. will prob. do more to recov. than all we can accompl by med.

Yet at same time from these also may look at least for some affects as mitig & shortening compl.

Partic from countract viciss of weather, from supp. free circul on surf by prop. cloath.

From unloading breast by means of Emet.

And from dimin determin to breast, in conseq of encr. that to kidneys & intest by means of diuret & gentle laxat.

Is with these intent that have had recourse to pract already empl.

The occas use viz of Ipecac as Emet of Vin Nicot as Diuret

And of Crem of Tart with Sulp as lax.

Under these am hopeful may get rid of affect.

But not improb that may be led to conj with them, use of blisters & opiates.
