Edward Ross. at 44 a mason seemingly of a habit rather weakly is distressd always after taking food with violent pain at stomach sickness nausea & acid eructations, & great distension. He is healthy in other respects. Pulse Thirst, & belly natural. Tongue rather whitish He has been subject to the above complaints for four months & he imputes them to his having drank spirituous liquors of a very bad quality. But he had similar symptoms when very young which after continuing some time went off spontaneously. He does not know that his parents were ever subject to stomach complaints. He has lately used a vomit & some pills of Rhubarb & Calomel, which purged him. But he had relief from neither. Cap. Pulv. Cretac ℥p bis indies Janr 7th Has taken the Pulvis Cretaceus as directed, but the acid eructations are nothing diminishd, & his other stomach ailments continue nearly as before. Cont. Pulv. Cretac sed cap dos met. solummodo. Rx. Tinct. Absinth ℥ii Ag. Menth pip. ℥IVMcap. ℥p ter de die. 21. Has taken the mixture with the Tinct. Absynth which sits very easily on his stomach. Since he began the use of it, he is entirely free from the acid eructations, & all his other stomach ailments are very much relievd. B. regular. Interm. Pulv. Cretac Cont Mist cum Tinct. Absynth u. a. Febr 4th Is now entirely free from the cardialgia & acid eructations, but complains of a sense of stopage at his stomach, so that he can swallow nothing excepting in a fluid state, & in very small quantity at a time. He can take however the dose of his medicine without any inconvenience. Belly regular. Pulse natural. Cont Mist cum Tinct Absynth & cap. Pulv. Fol. Cicut. gr V ter indies.
