Helen Smart at 25. a servant unmarried, complains of severe headach which is almost constant. She is affected also with frequent distension of the epigastric region attended with Flatus & Borborygmi often accompanied with sickness at stomach sometimes with eructations & cardialgia but never with vomiting. Pulse about 70 & strong. Tongue natural. Thirst variable. Appetite somewhat impaird. Belly rather costive. Menses regular. These complaints commenced about 8 years ago, but they are now much more violent & distressing None of her relations are subject to any similar disorder & she knows no cause for it. She has had some Emetics. But without benefite. She has for many years been subject to frequent epistaxis. But the quantity dischargd at a time is very small. Cap. Pulv. Ipecac gr XV pro Emet. 27. The vomit operated well but without any alleviation of the stomach complaints. Rx Tinct. Amar. Aromat Ag. Menth. Pip aa ℥ iiMcap. ℥p ter de die. 10. Thinks her stomach ailments a good deal relievd, from the use of the mixture & her headach also is easier, but she has still at times very severe attacks of both. Cont. Mist. cum Tinct. Aromat u. a. 17 Has had no severe return of the headach since last report & her appetite is much mended. But she is still at times affected with considerable uneasiness from wind. Belly regular. Cont Mist u. a. Janr 7. Has had a considerable aggravation of her headach & her stomach complaints are rather more distressing. Repet. Mist. 21 Has of late been very much distressd with her headach. But her appetite is somewhat mended & her stomach complaints rather easier. Cont. Mist. sed cap. dos bis indies [solum.] sumat om. m. & vesp. Pil. e Camph. gr X
