    May Pinkerton

    1786

    March 4th 1786.

No37. May Pinkerton at 33 married.

Subjected to fits, which are I think decidedly markd of Epilep. kind

This evinced not only by app. in fits themselves but also by sympt which [preced] & follow them.

Here however some doubt whether of Idiopath or Sympt. kind.

That is whethr whethr cause of irrit by which inord. action excited & affect of ment. facul prod is in brain, or only has influ prop to it from some dist part.

My doubts & conj on this subj however shall afterw have occas to state, when come to treat of case at more length.

May here only obser. that viewing it as case of Epilep. can have no sanguine expect. of cure.

For at least as far as my own exper. goes, a great major of cases [incur] by any remed with which yet acq.

At same time have met with not a few inst which yeilded during use of remd.

And am much deceivd if this did not take place as affect of these

And partic have met with some inst of recov both from calx of Zinc & Cup. Amm.

No longer ago than yesterday met with pat. Wm Nimmo whom treated with Cup. [Ammon] about 2 years ago.

    Became so well that dismissd

And tells me that not slightest retur of fit since though now more than 18 months.

To this consid recourse in pres inst

    And hope here also [succesful]
