Charles Riddell
(1785-1786)
Febr. 25th
No35. Chas Riddell at 28. In case of this patient have I am affraid anoth inst of Phthis to comb. And little reason to flatter ours that will termin more success. than those already treated. Indeed in so many inst prove fatal that some look upon it as being altogeth an incurab. disease Even in worst cases however am inclind to think that some chance of recov. And do not look upon pres as of that kind. For from fixd & severe pain of breast as well as preceding haemopt think that depends here on vomicae formd in lungs. With this view of disease have put pat on use of Crem. of Tart & Nitre as a refrig. And with this mean to conj. a blister to pained part, supporting disch under form of issue. Under these at least possib to conceive that may be taken up by absorb. or disch by expect & that ulcer may heal. And if in pros of pres. plan, matter do not go on fav. may have recour to such other remed as app of affect at time may indic. But much affraid that notwith all we can do, patient as is indeed gener case in such inst, will fall victim to affection.
