    William Campbell

    No44 March. 5. 1785

    Wm Campbell at 15 of a leucophlegmatic appearance is affected with a swelling of his abdomen which is very tense & excessively painful. The pain is alway much aggravated after taking food. No fluctuation can be discovered on percussion & he is much relievd on the discharge of wind. He is troubled also with great looseness & at the commencement of the winter he discharged some worms.

    It is about a month since the swelling of his belly first appeared.

    No cause is assignd for this complaint. He has used some Rhubarb. Garlic & Spirits but without benefite.

    12. Has taken the powders as directed. The swelling of his belly is much diminishd & he is less affected with pains. He has in general two stools in the day.

    26. Has taken the powders as directed but the pain & swelling of his belly are rather encreased & he has been affected with some looseness. He discharges but little wind. Cont. Pulv. Cort. Peruv. u. a. nec non Rx. Tinct. Aromat T. Amar. aa ℥ ii Ag. Font ℥IV M cap ℥i. om. m. & vesp.
