Andrew Ross at 15 has a considerable pain of breast accompanied with cough&dyspnoea & expectoration. Upon coughing the pain of the breast is always aggravatd & he expectorates generally a thick yellow matter. He feels a pain for the most part at the false ribs & under the sternum, which seldom continues long in a fixd situation but shoots along the false ribs of one side to the other, from thence it runs at times under the sternum either in a vertical or contrary direction. He says however he always feels a heaviness & some pain the chest, but it is encreasd when he coughs or expectorates. He complains also of a sore throat Pulse & belly regular. He has had the present symptoms upwards of a month at which time he was first attackd with the cough then with the pain of the breast & in a short time after profuse sweating superveend during the night. The present affection is attributed to exposure to cold after having overheated himself, on which occasion he was so imprudent as to drink a great quantity of cold water. No medicines have been used.
