Jean Johnston at 12 has a colourless swelling of the whole abdomen very hard & particularly in the evening. It feels she says very heavy to her. She always complains of some pain a little towards the left side of the [scro.] biculus cordis which at intervals of about ten minutes becomes very severe, & continues with her near a minute. The swelling of her stomach began two months since. Appetite bad belly regular. Pulse 126 small & weak. A pulsation may be felt a little towards the right side of the Trachea which beats [112] strokes in the minute & is irregular. A similar pulsation may be felt about the left mamma, which is also not [synchronous] with the radial artery. Appetite bad, when she takes food the pains of her stomach are much encreasd. They are most easy in the morning. Belly natural. She was healthy till within these three years past, when she had pains in different parts of her body. She discharged many worms at that time. From that time she continued well till the pain of her stomach began. She is ignorant of the [commencement] of the beating in her neck & breast. Cap bis indies Infus.
