    No32. Febr 13. 1784

    Robt Henderson at 15 a Gardnr passes seven or eight thin stools in the course of 24 hours. They are of the natural colour, he has little or no pain in the anus or lower part of his belly

    He complains also of a loose cough, which often excites vomiting & of a constant pain at the scrobiculus cordis which is most severe when he coughs. Has much vertigo

    Pulse 90 & weak, Appetite bad.

    The Diarrhoea began seven weeks ago & is as violent as at first.

    The cough has continued for four weeks but has been worse of late.

    14 Cap. Pulv. Ipecac gr XV & repet. bis in 7 [man] nec non Rx Suc. Japon. Cort Cassia aa ℥ i. Ag. Font. ℥VIII [digere] per horam & colatur. cap. ℥p. ter de die

    21. The vomit operated well & since he began the infus Jap. his Diarrhoea is much diminishd so that he has now seldom [more] than two stools in the day. But he is still at times affected with uneasiness at stomach & cough.

    28 Has now very little of the Diarrhoea, but since he began the use of the powder he has been much distressd with cough & vomiting.

    March 6th The looseness & cough were somewhat abated during the use of his mixture. But since the last of it was taken these symptoms have again been aggravated.
