    Agnes King

    1784

    Agnes King. Febr. 29. 1784

Concerning case of this patient reckon it necess to say very little.

The disease to which subj an obv. one viz. Tinea Capit or scald head.

And of this affect have already had occas to state sentim to you in pres course in treat of case of Jean Jackson, who also lab under that disease.

In this inst affect altog simple & uncomplic.

And in app as well as progr. nothn that could be consid as pecul.

Nor had contin of disease been such as to preclude hopes of cure

Selected this case therfore, after obs. which had formerly occas to make with regard to disease, rather as subj of lect Pract than of pract. lecture

And chiefly with view of strong effects of diff applic from that empl in former case.

There you will rememb. had rec to use of Ungt Citrin, reduced howev to such degree of strength that could be freely applied to tender part.

And from regul applic have now strong grounds for pres. that a cure is accompl.

Here flattered myself with simil effect from use of Ungt Vitriol.

An ointment formed by diffus ℥i of Vitr. acid in ℥i of Axung.

In this state corros. power is destroyd.

But possess to consid degree stim & astring effect.

And accord from active powers found advant in many affect partic cutan ones.

In several former inst have employd it in Tinea with good effect.

And hoped that pres. case would afford us addit example of effic.

Directed applic therefore after prev remov of incrust by poult.

But since that have seen nothing farther of patient.

And from long absence now not prob. that will return.

And even if that should be the case if to judge by what has already happend have little reason to belive that will now give fair trial to any med.

And therefore, unless can assign good reason for absence shall hardly think of contin her as subj of pract in this place.
