Peter Chalmers at 21 a blacksmith has a considerable inflammation both of the tarsus & membrane of the left eye which he is however able to open but the eyelashes are very apt to be glued togethr unless he frequently washes them. He does not feel much pain on their exposure to light & there is no great discharge of tears. There is a chain of sores from below the ear to the chin on the left side which is chiefly scabd over. His general health is pretty good. Near three weeks ago he receivd a blow on the affected eye. The sores on the side of his neck are of six years standing. [He] has used no remedies for the affection of his eyes. Ap. Hinid. ii tempor. & Rx Sal. Plumb. ℥ p. Ag. Font. ℥IV f. solut. pro colyr. 7. His eye is considerably easier since the bleeding with the leeches & the use of the solution. Cont. Solut. & cap. P. Crem Tart. ℥ii bis indies 14. Has in general two loose every day from the powders & has continued the solution regularly. The inflammation of his eye is considerably diminishd Cont. Solut & P. Crem Tart. u. a. 21. The inflammation of his eye is now somewhat diminishd but he has seldom more than one stool a day from his powders. Cont. Solut. Saturn. & cap. Pulv. Jallap. comp. ℥I all. m. 28. The inflammation of his eye continues nearly in the same state as at last report. His powders have in general produced 3 or 4 stools Cont. Solut Saturn & Pulv. Jallap. comp. u. a.
