John Chalmer at 26 a mason complains of dimness of sight affecting both eyes but principally the right, always attended with the sense of a mist before them. His general health is good, from his infancy he has been subjected to slight inflammations of the eyes but his vision was first impaird without any appearance of inflammation, or other obvious affection since he had the influenza. His dimness has encreased rapidly since he had a blow on his head, which was about Martinmas last. He has [latly] used several colyria but found his eyes very insensible to their stimulus. none of his family have been subject to similar affections. Rx. Calomel. gr VI Mag. Alb. i. divid in dos XII cap. ℥ i. m. & v. 31. Has taken his powders regularly, which have of late opened his belly & produced soreness of his gums. But the affection of vision continues nearly as before. Cont. Pulv. u. a. June 7th His powders have the effect of gently moving his belly but are attended with no other obvious operation. He thinks his affection of sight rather worse Cont. Pulv Calomel. u. a. 14. Has taken the powders regularly & he thinks his sight considerably relievd. But he is affected with soreness of his gums & copper taste in his mouth, particularly in the morning, but without any spitting. Interm. Pulv. Calomel. & cap. bis in 7 [ma]. Sal.
