    Ann Wright

    1783

    No4. adm. May. 15. 1783

Ann Wright at 25 unmarried complains of much flatulence acidity & distension of the stomach especially after taking vegetable food; also of very frequent nausea & pains in her stomach & head. She is apt to bring up her food in mouthfuls soon after eating, but seldom vomits except when that action is artificially excited. She is often affected with an eruption of red itchy pimples over her whole body which is usually only of a few minutes continuance. She is likewise troubled with a short tickling cough some tightness about her breast & frequently with distressing dyspnnoea

Appetite bad, constant thirst & much drowsiness. P. 68 & regular but low. T whitish but moist.

Belly very costive. Catamenia regular as to their periods

She has been subject to stomach complaints from her infancy & about three years ago rejected by vomiting, almost every thing she took. Since the natural vomiting abated she has been in the practice of taking frequent Emetics, which have always given temporary relief. She has been more than three years subject to the eruption & her cough is nearly of the same duration, but she has only been distressd with dyspnoea within these three months.

Last week she was affected with a very severe sore throat. But that is now entirely gone. During its continuance, she took a dose of purging salts. She has lately taken no other medicines but she formerly took Andersons pills for obviating costiveness.
