This patient but for short time under our care. Reckon it necess. therefore to say very little respect case. Especially as from not being able to find her abode very little chance ofever againhaving any farther direct of treatm of case. As far howevr as could judge of affect, from hist introd into our regist. both import & danger. At same time in circum with which attended nothing that could be consid as uncommon. When applied for our assist princip sympt. consistd of cough dysp. & pain of breast These taken merely by themselves in most inst not very alarming. But well known to be the incip sympt in Phthis as well as in Catarrh And here from circum by which preceded very great ground for being alarmd. For pres affect ushered in you will obs. by very prof. bloody disch. Was indeed matter of some doubt whether this haemorh. from lungs or from stomach. The great extent to which suddenly took place led patient herself to susp. that from latter of these sources And will not venture to say that conject without foundat. Yet when consid that blood [afterw] evid. coughd up more prob. that entirely from lungs. And no doubt that vessels [there] capab of affording evac to any extent This haemopt indeed from time that patient came under our care had entir. ceased. But well known that after ceasing again very apt to return. And in case before us this the rather to be dreaded from quickness & strength of pulse conj. with mark of plethor habit. But eithr with or without return great reason to dread termin in Phthisis. For in at least major of cases notwith every precaut. this event takes place. Must indeed be allowed that danger not to be estim by quant of haemorr. Even contrary perhaps is the case. At least for my own part [persuad] that more to be dreaded where but slight app of blood with freq. [recur] & long contin than from prof. haem at once as in pres. inst. Anoth circum somewhat in pat fav is sex. For no doubt that with men [haemop] much more alarm than with females. Partic when with latter occurs as vicar to menst. disch. And although this cannot strictly be said to hold in pres case yet would seem to happen at least in some degree. For although menses regular as to time yet scanty in point of quant. Whereas formerly we are told were very profuse. From these circum then, some ground for expect. fav termin. But must own that inclind rather to diff opin. And think it more probable that affect will termin in fatal Phthisis than in recov. But besides pector. compl. in his of case anoth affect also mentiond. Cutan erupt. viz. on diff. parts of arms but partic betwixt fingers. From app. as well as situat could have no doubt in consid this to be Psora Which still farthr conf. by child with whom she sleeps being also subj. to same affect. This part of disease however althou troublesome did not consid as in any degree danger. Reckoned it suff. therefore to recom to her to have recourse both for herself & child to frict with Sulph. And med prescribed for her, entirely directed with view to other affect. With this intent had first recourse to refrig powders with Nitre & G. Arab And as means of allev. both hoarseness & cough directed also the Mistura Oleosa. Under these med for space of week contin free from any return of bloody spitting & hoarseness much dimin But was distressd with bound state in belly. In this situat reckond contin of oily med which not very agreeab to her unnecess. And to Nitre subst. Crem of Tart taken in such quant. that hoped it would move the belly. What however has been effect of it have not been able to learn as have since seen nothing of pat. But whether for pres has got better or not must own reckon future health extremely uncert.
