Case of this patient evid of complic nature. And no reason to believe that diff parts any connex with each other This I think may confid inferr not only from nature & progr, but also from periods at which appeared. Most obv. part of affect & that for which prin app. for assist, an erupt. When came under our care prin app. on face. And there under form of numer. collect. of thick sett, small red pimp These also in some degree on hands & legs. But these at time when came under our care inconsid only. And of this affect what then claimd attent entirely on face. Here could not repres. the affect as being in many resp. pecul. When came under care indeed, had been for that time, but of short [durn.] And preceded by some sympt as vertigo, dimness of sight, encr. [illegible] &e indic. febrile state. But at same time, well known, that such sympt. as dep. on stom often both forerunners & conseq of erupt. And when consid that affect of this patient had now subs. for many years could have no diffic in consid it as an erupt. disease of chron. kind. And from app. as little doubt in denom it a herpet. erupt. Of this if prognos. to be given from nature,of natureof affects had no reason to be appreh of any bad conseq. For in very rare inst only, that any danger conseq. ever result from it. But at same time, little reason to hope for speedy radic cure. Espec. as affect not only in gener. obstin in nature, but had already subsisted for consid. length of time. For no less than space of 12 years. A period with our patient more than one half of life time. During that time however, very far from being const. For although twice or thrice in course of year, yet had seldom contin without interrupt for more than [forthn] Had reason therfore to hope, that in pres case would follow same course as had formerly done. And when now fav termin, somewhat doubtful how far much to be attrib to med employd. But before saying any thing of this necess. to take notice of other parts of affect. Besides erupt. compl. also of pain seated in haunch bone. With this we are told had been in some degree affected for space of three months. And especially distressing when hard at work. This compl. of still [older] date than on pres. occas. For formerly subj to it,forabout three years before. Then as on pres. occas, was ascribd to much exert. in line of profession that viz of House joiner. And probab. with just attrib to parts, being thus [overstrechd]. At least much more probab. in this conject than in that entert with regard to cutan erupt. Which attrib to drinking cold small beer when much heated. Prob. from no other reason than that erupt soon after But when consid that has often since been renewed, with out any such cause, little reason to believe that had then any concern. Taking it for granted however, that pres. affect proceeded from cause alledged, did not look upon it as being very import. And hoped that by rest & attent alone, might soon of itself cease. In pract. therfore consid cutan erupt, as first & prin obj. claiming attent. And from app. as well as mode of commen. imagind that would be most readily combat by determ from surface to intern parts. Was with this view, that thought of having recourse to gentle laxat. To this indeed might seem to be some object, that purgat formerly employd without advant. And no doubt that cathart, now deservedly less in use than formerly in such affect. For when in every case, recourse promisc. had, to strong drast. purgt freq. repeated, on suppos. of evac. morbid matter, constit often ruined without any benef. to patient. But while much evil from this pract. no inconsid advant. may be obt. from gentle evac, from intest canal. Especially when cond in such manner, as to give determin there without encreas. impet of circul in general. For answering these intent had recourse to Cream of Tart. Than which few of the refrig cathart better suited, for moder. open the belly. But that might [secure] effect here added small prop. of Jallap. From stimul. power of which when comb. with refrig. nothing to be appreh. From this hoped that some catharsis might be induced. At same time not to such exten as to prev its being empl. daily. In these effects not disapp. For from regul. employm. had daily two or three loose stools. With this manif operat. erup. soon very much dimin. But whether to be attrib to med or not, as already obs. was very doubtf For on many former occas, had in nearly same time of itself grad disapp. May however at least vent. to say, that prod of no bad effect. For under use in short time sympt. entirely disapp. At pres. therefore no farther reason for contin Although when consid what had formerly happened, could by no means look upon affect as compl. removed. Now however in such situat that naturally thought of turning attent to other part of compl. viz pain of [ha] For this directd frict with Camp Oil. And under use this part of affect also soon left him. Was therfore dismissd for pres. at least free from all compl.
