Cornelius Pringle At 16th
May 8th. Is affected every second day with a paroxism of an intermittent fever, which however is not perfect in its form; the hot & sweating fitt attacking him without any cold fit preceding. But for about 15 hours before the hot fit commences he is affected with headach, sickness at stomach pains of his loins & general lassitude. He has no appetite & is very thirsty. He had the hot & sweating fits this morning & was yesterday from ten o'Clock affected with the symptoms above describd. The sweating fit continues for about three hours. Pulse 120 & rather full. Appetite good. Tongue clean & moist. Belly regular. These fits have now continued for about three weeks When they first began it was with coldness & shivering. But since the first attack he has never had a cold fit. His fits are rather more severe of late than at first. He has used no medicines Capr. cr. hor. 7 [ma] vesp. Pulv. Ipecac. Ji. pro emet. nec non sumat om. [bohor]. Pulv. Cort. Peruv. ℥ i ad vices. Vicem. incip. port parox. 17. The vomit operated well & he took the bark as directed without any inconvenience. He has had no return of the Paroxysm & now proposes to go to the country. Let him be dismissd.
