    Robert Hamilton

    (1780-1781)

First patient in list Rob Hamilton still under our care

His case pron to be distinctly markd inst of Scrophul.

And since that no reason to change opin.

When formerly spoke of this case, ment intent of trial of repeatd emet & cicuta in conj.

And stated reason on which though that from these pract. some rational prosp of success.

Emet contin for sever weeks without any manif benefite

And found that on part both of patient & mother some avers to cont.

These circum conj then determ me to intermit use.

And from trial in this inst can not draw any conclus, either for or again use in Scrophula.

After interm of Emet. Cicuta has been contin alone

Now takes powder to extent of ℥ p for dose.

And although affect at diff times consid dimin, yet at pres. very little better than when came under care.

Yet when consider that in spring season such affect commonly aggr prob. that would have been worse if had not been used.

And although should not be means of cure, yet may venture to say, that use in pres case afford no obj to trial in future inst.
