Ann Kinneird.
Of case of this patient, who has hardly been subj of treatm here, very little to be said. In disease to which she was subj an evid ex of Tinea capitis. An affect of which already some observat in case of John Ormond. There anexample ofinst of diseas which in as far as of longer durat more obstin than pres, & which seem now to be cured. In that case indeed some sympt such for ex as affect of eyes still remain. These however I have already given it as opin. that disease compl. with scroph. A combin by no means unfreq. And here perhaps quest whether such conjunct does not also take place For besides common sympt of Tinea some other app also ment. Before however ment these may observe thatprogrin descript of this case very distinct acct of ordin progr of Tinea. At same time began in way rathr uncommon. By incrust viz first formd on chin. This however from acct given but of short contin. And soon succeeded by that sort of disch from head which gives [incrus] from which prin app in Tinea arises. When came under our care, disease about three months stand. During that time however very thick incrust formd. And hence little opport afforded for disch. Accord informd that at first much more consid than at that time. Though this however the case yet still prob. that morb. secret going on. And while part disch., part giving addit thickness to incrust, part also absorbd. At least is I think no improb. suppos that to this cause are to referr anoth app. ment in case. That is tumour on back side of neck, which seemd when last saw patient, to have termin in [suppur.] This as have already hinted may be supp. indeed to depend on simil combin as have alledged to take place in other case. Patient viz being at same time affectd with scroph. No doubt indeed that such tum about neck one of most common forms in which scroph appears. But then in gener. seldom yield prop purul. matter. And when once in ulcer. state seldom heal so soon, as before happ in pres case. Besides this such tum in neck & neighb. parts by no means rare occurr. in Tinea. At least cert. much more freq. take place than affect of eyes [such] as occurred in case of Oman. And may I think be expl as conseq of absorpt. from head. From matter taken up by [absorb] being retaind in lymph glands whole train of conseq of irritat, swelling, inflam, irritat& [suppurat] are [induc] In this manner then consid whole sympt in case as being merely depend on Tinea Capit. And view disease as uncompl. From this consid joind to other circum. state & app of disease, short contin &e hoped for fav termin. Expected that in conseq of regul attend & due attent might in no long time have been removed. Here however wishd to vary pract And as in former case had an examp of cure by corros sub. wishd here to give trial to verdegrise. For this purpose directed it in form of ointm, united with Hogs Lard. In prop of Ji of [Oeng] to ℥i, which as large prop. as can at first I think be vent. upon. With this meas however others at same time conj. To tumour with view of forward suppurat, poultices directed to be applied. And to prev. inconven from [suppur] of disch. by head, as well as to give determ from affected parts, blister directed betwen should. Since these meas however enj. have seen nothing of patient. And therefore cannot say how far have been used or if used have had any affect. Prob also is that now shall see nothing farther of him Hence any farther remarks unnecess.
