    DEP/DUA/1/25/12 (Transcript version)

    George Robert

    (1780-1781)

Consid of next [case], [could] [now] now over [overtaken], & shall therfore beg leave to delay till fut. lect.

And shall now only add few words concer. case of Gr. Robert our patient affected with Taenia.

When formerly spoke of this patien had tried sever remed without affect

Or at least with no other conseq than remov of large fragm giving temp rem.

When last spoke of case on [course] of Camph. pills.

At same time was appreh that these would not be affect & [expect] wish to try such pract as any of you might have seen used [with] [succ]

Since that have to acknowl my obligat to sever Gent for suggest.

And these if shall be found [illegible] as far as diff ones found necess is my intent to try

One Gent has fav. me with [form] which has seen success in simil case, Pulv. [sem] [Santon] & [illegible] with prop of Sal. [Ment].

Anoth has inf me of cure by means of Merc. Praecip. Flav. or [Turpeth] Minerale

A third, who has not indeed been kind enough to fav me with his name, has suggest trial which still think very reason. one

viz Conj of Calom with Opium.

That Gent also prop trial of Cicut. from which I own have but little expect.

At same time have no objec to prud trial.

A fourth has in way of suggest prop pract. prob more affect.

Inject viz of smoke of Tobacco.

To some one or even all these pract may yet have recourse

But patient at pres. very much exhaus by evac empl. & by [failure] of [atten] on husb. [during] a [illegible] which proved fatal

Wishes therfore for remiss from med for some time.

And this the rather as of late has obervd no fragm

This indeed by no means proof that worm compl. disch.

Less reason to [susp] now than on former occas.

For no thread of worm or large fragm obs. to be disch.

At same not improp to give patient some remiss from use of med & to wait till cert. evid of pres from disch of fragm

While now mention the subj of worms may not perhaps be out of place to take notice here of anoth partic.

And especially as connected with remed now mentiond use viz of Toba. against insects.

What I allude to hist of case with which lately fav. by Mr [Kelgard] an ingen surg of Montego bay in the island of Jamaica.

This the rather take liberty of reading to you as treats of a subjec respects a diseas which do not introd into pract. [course] but which may occur [to] some of you who happen to pract in warm climates
