    With Robt Kerr after last spoke of case, empl. Mercury for consid. [length] of time, & to consid extent, with a view to cure of chron hydroceph.

    But without either affect of excit. that degree of saliv, which might have been expected, or of affording any relief of affect.

    Would not from this by any means inferr, that Mercury in no case of hydroceph useful.

    But serves I think to prove two circum.

    That viz while in this affect, emet cathartics & like oper with great diffic, so Mercury prod its specif operat on saliv glands, much less readily than in other cases.

    And that can by no means rely upon it, as an infalib remedy in this disease.

    For such cases, as that of pres patient, consid cure as yet remaining to be [discov]

    And in all probab., will soon fall victim to affect. if such an event, has not already taken place.
