    Joseph Harley

    (1779-1780)

In case of Joseph Harley had an example of a Nerv. affect with many pecul.

But although this the case consid it as better entit to name of Epilep than any other.

When first began treatm, had very little expect of being of any serv. to him

But when last spoke of case, affect so much mitig, that flatterd myself with hopes of speedy cure

In these hopes however, had soon reason to concl. that was premat.

For in short time, a very viol return of affect.

Reason to presume howevr, that this the conseq of an accid.

A stroke viz on head followed by consid haemorrhage

But since that, affect again very consid dimin.

And means by which this affected gives addit presumpt at least of conject formerly offered as to cause of comp

Whatever may be event of case, has I think exhib exampl of advant. which may be obt, by remov of irritat from intest. canal.

And would hope, that former expect may still be fulfilled.
