(1779-1780)
Of event of case of Jas Chalmers am sorry that have not been able to procure any informat.
Affect had formerly occas to obs in appear pecul & such as I had never before seen. Accord to nosol defin, imagind that with greater prop might get name of Flatul hypochond than any othr appellat. But most distressing part of affect consisted in pecul eruct or singult. For comb. this tried without affect many very active med. Partic Aether, Assafotid, Camph &e All howevr employd withoutaffectany consid benef But in this situat affect suddenly stopt by a remedy prescr. by a Lady And when last spoke of case was in hopes would have had no return. Expected that might soon be dismissd Soon however appeard that this judgem premature. For in no long time returnd again, with same viol as before. In this situat, had no hesit in again directing him to source from whence had before derived so much relief. And if again had given even temp relief, would have left no room for susp. that formr respite proceeded from any other cause than the med. Have not however had satisfact of learning whethr such trial was made. Nor have since heard any thing of condit of patient.
