    No25. January 20th. 1790.

    Robert Milln. at 42 by trade a brewer, complains of severe cough, dyspnoea & pain of breast.

    And is at times affected with copious bloody expectoration. He sleeps ill from the severity of the cough, & he often sweats in the night.

    Pulse 76 & full. Tongue foul appetite tolerably good, belly regular.

    He attributes his complaints to exposure to cold about four months ago which produced the usual symptoms of cough hoarseness etc, & a few weeks after these began, he perceived the bloody expectoration. He has taken some pectoral remedies such as the infusion of ground ivy, but without any apparent benefit.

    Takes his powder without any inconvenience & has had no return of the bloody expectoration since he began the use of it. His cough is also rather easier, but he still complains of pains in different parts of his body, & particularly of cramps in his legs. Belly regular, Appetite tolerable

    His cough has been rather more severe & he had some slight haemoptysis on Monday last. He still complains also of pain in different parts of his body

    Has had no return of Haemoptysis & his cough is easier. But he complains of dyspnoea.

    Has had no return of the Haemoptysis for these two weeks past; but think that his cough is rather more severe.
