Jean Thomson at 20, complains of severe pain in her back & stomach, attended with cough & slight dyspnoea. She is also at times affected with cold fits & her strength is much diminished. Her menstrual discharge takes place in unusual quantity, seldom continuing for less than eight days at a time. It returns also at shorter intervals than natural, being sometimes absent only for eight days, & seldom for more than three weeks. Pulse 60 & soft. Tongue clean belly regular. Appetite much impaired. The frequent recurrence of her menses in unusual quantity, has continued for three years past, & she does not know, to what cause it is to be attributed. Her other complaints have gradually supervened, since the commencement of the excessive menstrual She has used no remedies Rx. Spt. Vitr. Ten. Tinct. Theb aa Aq. Font. ℥ IV Mucil. G. Arab ℥pM. cap. ℥p ter de die. Decr 12th Has taken her mixture as directed, but thinks that it occasions some uneasiness at stomach. The discharge which began on Wednesday last, has been rather more excessive than usual & still continues. Cont. Mist. u. a. & Rx. Pulv. Alum. - Suc. Japon. - Cort Cassia aa gr VMcap. dos. [ejusm] cum singulis dosibus misturae. 19 The discharge was somewhat diminished after the use of the powders, But it continued in some degree till Thursday last, since which she is rather easier. Cont. Med. u. a. January 2d 1790 Her menstrual discharge began on Thursday last, at the distance only of a fortnight, from the last evacuation. It is attended with rather more pain than usual, & is still as large as before. Cont. Med. u. a. & cap. om. n. h. som. Pil. Theb. gr. X 9th The discharge stopped on Monday last after continuing for rather a shorter time than usual. She complains much of the pain of her back, but in other respects she is rather easier. Cont.
