    Janet Sutherland

    1789

    No11th November 19th. 1789

Janet Sutherland at 34, is much affected, with severe cough & copious expectoration of viscid mucus, attended with much dyspnoea.

Pulse, Belly, & appetite natural, menses irregular

These symptoms began about nine weeks ago & are supposed by the patient to have proceeded from cold. About the same time however she was severely hurt by a fall, which was followed by pains of her breast & head. But these are now in a great measure removed.

She was bled after the hurt, which relieved her breast & head, but the cough has still continued notwithstanding standing the use of different remedies.
