Jean Thomson at 48, complains of pain & distension of her stomach, with flatulency & indigestion. She is often also affected with headache & vertigo She frequently rejects by vomiting fluid or light food, & she complains of much oppression & weight at her stomach when she takes solid animal food in any quantity. Pulse [+] Heat natural, Appetite much impaired, Belly generally costive Catamenia have ceased for five years past. These complains have continued for many years, & during that time have gradually increased in severity. A considerable time ago she got a severe fall, by which her breast was much hurt, & to this she is inclined to attribute, her present symptoms. At the same time she received the hurt, she was blooded, & took several medicines for hysterical symptoms with which she was then affected but which are now entirely removed. Of late, she has used no medicines. Cap. Pil. Stomach. gr V ter de die 21 Has had considerable sickness at stomach, attended with gripes & looseness which she ascribes to the pills. Interm. Pil. & Rx. Tinct. Aromat - [Amarae] Ag. Menth. aa ℥ ii M cap. ℥ p. ter de die. 28 Has had nothing of the looseness or gripes since she began her mixture & the pain of her stomach is somewhat alleviated though still at times very severe.
