William Stuart at 30, complains of great diminution of the power of motion in both arms & hands. His fingers are constantly extended & he cannot bend them without pain nor when bent can he keep them in that situation. He complains also of great pain in his elbows & shoulders, shooting sometimes across his back. These pains are much aggravated on exposure to cold. Pulse 68. Belly regular, appetite good. He sweats at night about his breast. These complaints appeared about a year ago after a violent fever. He has been blistered on the back, & on the arms but without relief. Rx. Pulv. Cort. Peruv - Valer Sylv aa ℥ p.Mcap. coch parv. bis indies 10. The powders have always excited sickness at stomach & vomiting. Symptoms much as before. Interm Pulv. Cort. & Cap. Pil. e Camp grV om. m. & vesp. 14 Has had no vomiting, since the powders were omitted, has taken the pills regularly & the tremors of his hands, are somewhat diminished. but he still complains of great weakness. Cont. Pil. e. Camph. u. a. 21. The tremor of his hands continues nearly as before, but he has been much affected with pain at his head & breast. Cont. Pil. e Camph. u. a.
