No27 January 27th. 1789.
Alexander Murray at 15, is affected with pain in the epigastric region, nausea, anorexia, & inclination to vomit. He has also frequent borborygmi, & pyrosis, with pain & distension of stomach after meals. He appears at present to labour under much depression of spirits, & says that he has always a sense of coldness over his body. Belly costive, Pulse regular, Appetite impaired. These complaints first appeared about two years ago, but they have been much more severe within this last month. He knows no cause for his present symptoms. And has used no remedies. [Cap] Pulv. Magnes. cum [Rhio] coch parv bis indies 31 The powder has had some effect in opening his belly. But his other symptoms continue nearly as before. Cont. Pulv Magn u. [entea] nec non Rx. Tinct. Aromat. - Amar. Ag. Font. aa ℥ iiMcap ℥ i. indies her. II [aa] a. m. & hor. IV p. m. February 7. Has taken the mixture as directed & his stomach complaints are somewhat diminished. Appetite mended Belly regular. Cont. Med. u. a. 14 Has taken the mixture regularly, but still complains of pain & sourness at stomach. Cont. Med. u. a. 21 Has had little of the sourness at stomach since last report, but still complains of the pain. Appetite good. Belly natural, Sleeps well Cont. Med. u. a
