    Isabel Dewar

    No16th November 25. 1788.

    Isabel Dewar at 36 complains of frequent cough, attended with pain of the sternum & difficult expectoration. She has also some oppression about the praecordia, borborygmi & distension of stomach after meals.

    She sleeps ill & during the night, has often partial sweats on different parts of her body, but most frequently on her breast. Pulse about 70 & soft. Belly costive, Appetite much impaired.

    She was delivered of a child about 10 weeks ago which she suckled till the 16th [instance] & her catamenia have not appeared since that time. She attributes her complaints to cold during the puerperal state. She has used no medicines

    Has less of the sweating since she began the mixture, but her cough continues nearly as severe as before & she complains much of loss of strength Pulse 80 & small. Belly natural

    Cont Mist cum acid venol. u. a. nec non Rx. Pulv. Cort. Peruv.

    December 6th.

    Has taken her medicines as directed without any inconvenience. But the cough still continues to be very severe; & the sweatings during the night, are more profuse than before.
