No8 November 4th 1788.
Mary Thorborn at 26, is affected with frequent cough, attended with considerable expectoration. She complains also of much pain at the sternum, general debility, & anorexia, & at times she is affected with nausea. Tongue foul, pulse frequent, much thirst, belly & catamenia regular. These complaints first began about ten weeks ago, with the symptoms of the prevailing epidemic at that time. At the commencement of her complaints she was blooded & had a blister applied to her breast, which gave her some relief. But she has never been free from the cough since that time & on the first instant, her complaints were much aggravated, which she ascribes to fresh exposure to cold. Of late she has used no remedies.
