Margaret Wilson at 25. complains of great pain in the right ear, particularly when exposed to the air. It is at times attended with tinnitus aurium, vertigo & deafness, but at present she hears very well. Pulse, Belly, tongue & appetite natural. Catamenia have not appeared for these two last months. The affection of her ears supervened during a violent attack of fever about six weeks ago. About three weeks after the first attack a considerable discharge of matter apparently purulent, took place from the ear affected. This gave her great relief. This discharge continued till about four days ago. It then stopped & the [pain] became more violent. she attributes the obstruction of the Catamenia to having got wet in her feet. She has used no medicines. Rx. Ol. Camph ℥ i Tinct. Theb. ʒI [ustil] paux aure dol. ter vel quart indies 8. The oil had no effect in relieving her pain. But on Wednesday last there took place a considerable discharge of purulent matter, from the ear, since which it has been much easier. She still complains a good deal of pain in different parts of her head. Cont. Oleum. U. a. & Ap. vesic inter seap. & postea f. fontic ope Ungt Episp. 29. Has had no return of the pain of her Ear since the last purulent discharge, & is at present in good health Let her be dismissed.
