    Jacobina Robertson

    1788

    No4th October 28th. 1788.

Jacobina Robertson at 9 is frequently during the course of the day attacked with fits in which she falls down senseless. During these fits she has much agitation of the upper extremities & a convulsive motion of the under jaw, but she does not foam at the mouth. These fits in general continue only for a few minutes & upon their ceasing leave the patient in a state of fatuity for some time. She has in general a warning of their approach by a sense of fullness in the epigastric region.

Pulse regular, even during the paroxysm. Belly loose, appetite good, & remarkably keen on her recovering from a fit.

These fits first attacked her about three weeks ago. She can assign no cause for them, but for some time before the first accession she complained of pain in the region of the stomach & was frequently observed to grind her teeth.

She has taken powder of Tin, Rhubarb & Calomel, without benefit.
