In this case a second example of Epilepsy. And although in some respects considerably different from that of Jacob Robertson yet cannot be said to occur with any remarkable peculiarity. And these two cases with respect to frequency of fits as well as preceding & concomitant circumstances merely exhibit common varieties occurring in this disease. This patient as will observe from history of case once before under care for same affection. Then recourse had to same remedy which have now employed. Before began medicine had two fits. But afterwards no return of it. This however could not consider as any strong proof of benefit from medicine. Is not indeed impossible that without use might have had more fits. But no less probable that in this way nothing to be ascribed to them. That disease affect of some accidental cause which had of itself ceased to operate. Or that was a modification of Epilepsy in which fits return only after very long intervals. As for example eight ten or twelve months. And from now again returning this last of the two most probable conjecture. But whatever be real case, when disease thus suddenly ceases much less [presumption] of artificial cure, than where under use of medicine, fits gradually begun less frequent & less severe till altogether cease. On present occasion improbable that recurrence somehow connected with state of menstrual. For no doubt that with many females Epilepsy as well as hysterical affections are consequence of morbid condition of uterine discharge. And from this presumption that return of affection will now be more frequent. At least if menstrual evacuation does not occur in regular periodic manner. Hence then may lead to use of some emmenagogue, with view to combating Epilepsy. But in mean time have had recourse to former remedy the Pill e Cupro. And these shall probably at least continue till next or perhaps even successive menstrual period. If other practices then necessary will be regulated by situation in which shall find patient.
