    No33. February 12th 1788.

    Christian Murray at 40. is commonly attacked every day with a cold shivering fit which begins about four o’Clock in the afternoon & lasts for two hours. At the expiration of this a profuse sweat comes on, & continues during the night. She has also constant headache anxiety, weakness, & nausea. She has likewise a pain at the bottom of the sternum, which shoots to the right side & top of both shoulders, from thence it extends down the back to the lumbar region

    She is also affected with dyspeptic symptoms, with cough & with difficulty of breathing.

    Pulse about 94 & feeble. Belly rather bound. Sleeps ill. Catamenia regular.

    These symptoms began about a fortnight ago, & she ascribes them to the action of cold.

    She has used no medicines

    Cap. Pulv. Guaiac. comp. coch parv. bis indies.

    Has in general had two stools a day from the powder. She has still severe returns of pain in different parts of her body. At present it is most distressing in her back.

    Pains nothing relieved since the friction with the Unguent Terebinth & she is still daily affected with a return of cold fit.

    The vomit operated well & since the use of the bark she has had no return of cold fit. Her pains are somewhat easier. But she still complains of uneasiness at stomach

    Continues free from any return of the cold fit & all her symptoms are easier.
