Andrew Mein at 64 is affected with a sense of tightness & with severe pain at the Cartilago ensiformis, which extends from thence to the right hypogastric region. He has likewise great pain between his shoulders, which is always most severe on ascending any height or on inspiration. He has also great pain all over his head which commonly seizes him about ten at night, & continues till morning accompanied with great deafness & at times with tinnitus aurium He has also much dyspnoea & cough attended with an expectoration of gross matter Pulse about 90 & low. Belly natural. Great thirst, appetite pretty good. Sleeps ill, Strength impaired The pain of his breast attacked him about four weeks ago. He thinks it originated from cold. The pain of his head & deafness supervened about four or five days since in consequence of the aggravation of the other symptoms. Cap. Pulv. Guaiac. Comp. coch parv. bis indies 19 The powders have had some effect in moving his belly, but no other obvious operation. He thinks his symptoms somewhat relieved, but he is still much affected with cough & dyspnoea. Cont. Pulv. Guaiac. u. a. 26 Has taken the powders as directed It in general produces one loose stool in the day. He is almost entirely free from the headache & the cough & pain of breast are easier. Cont. Med. u. a. February 2. The powders have had little obvious operation. His pains are easier but his cough is still very severe Cont. Med. u. a 16 Is now free from the pains, & less affected with cough, but he complains of being frequently attacked with sickness in the night. Interm Pulv. & cap. Mist. Tinct. Aromat ℥ p ter indies
