Grizel Combe
(1787-1788)
No15
Grizel Combe at 40 Subjected in some degree to complication of affections. But of these affection of head by much most considerable. For pulmonary affection neither long continued nor severe. If therefore Cephalea alone which hitherto much object of attention. And here mention own with regard to termination very doubtful. When consider that patient subjected to this disease from infancy can hardly look for complete removal. And I own am not even altogether without suspicion even of some local affection. This the rather reason to dread from affection of hearing. Yet inclined to think that upon whole presumption against supposition. And flatter myself that may be able to obtain some alleviation of affection. Particularly by discharge from neighborhood of parts affected. And is with this intention that have had recourse to blisters to each ear to be converted into issues. By effects of these future practice will in great measure be regulated. But have some thoughts here of giving a trial to Camphor. An article from which have in some instances seen very considerable advantage But if shall employ it, will afterwards explain grounds of practice at more length.
