    Isabel Miln

    1787

    No34. February 23d 1787.

Isabel Miln at 60 is affected with severe pain extending from her shoulder through her whole back. The pain is much increased on any attempt to stoop to the ground It prevents her from sitting erect, & she is obliged for ease to recline a little forwards as she has most relief in that posture

Since this pain began she has been troubled with stomach ailments, & if she eats any [solid] meat, she feels an oppression & weight at her stomach which never leaves her till she gets rid of it by vomiting

When the pain of her back is violent she observes her urine to be scanty & high coloured.

Pulse 75 & of natural strength

Belly regular but she complains of thirst. In other respects she enjoys pretty good health. She sleeps best on her back.

She ascribes the present complaints to over fatigue in working which required much stooping

She has been affected with them for six months & they are much increased in violence since their commencement.
