Thomas Aitken at 36 by trade a Taylor complains of severe cough with dyspnoea & pain of breast. He has often also pain in the inferior part of the abdomen. The cough is attended with copious gross expectoration. The matter expectorated is of a saltish taste. He complains also of lassitude which together with the Dyspnoea are much increased on going up hill. Pulse 80 & small. Tongue rough. Belly regular. Appetite tolerable & he sleeps pretty well. He is generally attacked with these symptoms when the winter sets in & they again disappear in the spring. They have occurred with greater severity this season than formerly. But he thinks they are at present on the decline. Cap. bis in 7 [mane] Pulv. Ipecac ℈i March 3d. Both the vomits operated well, but since the last he thinks that the pain of his breast is rather increased, & his cough is still very severe, but at present it is attended with little expectoration. Interm Med & cap ter de die Vin. Nicot [gt] XX ex Ag. Cyantho. 10th Has sometimes sickness & vomiting from the morning dose of the drops, & he does not think, they have had any effect in increasing the quantity of his urine. But his breast is considerably relieved, though he has still at times severe returns of the cough Cont. Vin. Nicot. u. a. 17. Has still some sickness from the drops, but without vomiting.
