James Thomson at 64 a labourer, complains of cough dyspnoea & pain of his breast particularly towards the right side. The cough is accompanied with copious expectoration, & his other symptoms are much relieved upon his expectorating freely. But the pain of his breast & side are always worse when the cough is severe.

Tongue clean but rough. Appetite impaired, with considerable thirst. Belly regular. He is often prevented from sleep in the night by the cough.

These complaints are of about ten days standing & he ascribes them to cold to which he was exposed at that time.
