    William Walker

    1786

    No27. January 13th. 1786

William Walker at 35 a joiner of an unhealthy appearance & much emaciated is affected with a severe & almost constant pain of the obtuse kind under the sternum, towards the lower end of it.

It is much aggravated by pressure & by a frequent hard cough which is without any expectoration. He has frequently a distressing pain in the head & every night he is attacked with a violent cold rigour followed in the morning by sweat which is often very copious.

Pulse about 90 & feeble. Tongue clean. Thirst very great. Appetite much impaired Belly regular, great weakness.

He began to complain of the above symptoms about three months ago. But they have been very much aggravated within the last fortnight. He thinks they originated from cold.

He was formerly he says remarkably healthy & none of his family or relations are subject to pectoral complaints. He says however that about 18 years ago, several ulcers broke out on his legs without any evident cause but they healed up in no long time & he never had any swelling of the glands of the neck.
