1785
No10th November 13. 1785.
Alexander Henry at 24 a joiner of a stout habit of body, & healthy appearance, is at present affected with severe pains in the head, chiefly the forehead, which is most violent at night, & prevents him from sleeping entirely. He has also pain in the back & loins, & slight pain in the breast, but no cough or dyspnoea. He is affected, with alternate hot & cold fits, & sweats much in the morning. Pulse about 70 & strong. Skin hot. Belly regular. Urine in natural quantity, but of a high colour. Appetite bad. Great thirst. These complaints began about a week ago, & were ushered in with pain of head, shivering & coldness, followed by heat & sweating. He has however always gone out, to the open air at midday. He knows no cause for these complaints He formerly enjoyed good health & his relations are free from any hereditary complaint. On the 11th he had a vomit, which operated well, produced a copious sweat & good sleep for that night, but has not relieved the head. Rept. Emet & Cap. Pulv. Cort. Per. ℥ i ter de die. November 19. The vomit operated well & he has taken the bark as directed. His pains are entirely gone & in other respects he is in his usual health. Let him be dismissed
