    Alexander McKay

    No34 5 February 1785

    Alexander McKay at 40 complains of cough & dyspnoea which are attended at times with pain of his breast & difficulty [expectorating]

    The cough is most severe during the night it begins about four in the morning & increases severity, & from this time he remains [watchful] till he rises

    Whenever he takes food his cough & breathing are always much aggravated. Appetite bad. Belly regular. Pulse 60.

    The above complaints have affected him for these five years past. But never to that degree of severity at which they are at present. He has never used any medicines.
