1785
No30th 8th January 1785
John Annan at 28 complains of severe cough & shortness of breathing, which are attended with difficulty of expectoration of a white viscid matter. He never feels any pain in his Thorax but when coughing. But the exertion is then so great, that not only his breast but all the other parts of his body are much pained. Appetite indifferent, Belly regular, Tongue white, & he complains of excessive thirst. Pulse about 86. The above complaints commenced about half an year ago. He was then affected with spitting of blood, & with great pain in his breast, which continued with him for the space of ten days. Soon after this however, it left him, but the cough still continued & has been much aggravated [since] that time. He attributes this affection to exposure to cold. Of late he has used no medicines.
