    John Skinner

    1784

    No11 November 19. 1784

John Skinner at 64 is troubled with severe cough & difficulty of breathing. During the night the cough always becomes worse, so that he is deprived of sleep.

The great difficulty of breathing, proceeds, he thinks, from the incapacity of discharging the phlegm. And this want of strength, is at times so great, that he is almost suffocated by the mucus, which obstructs the vessels of the lungs.

He began first to complain about a month ago & he attributes his complaints to exposure to cold.

November 20th He complains much of pain in his side from an accidental blow by a piece of wood.
