Janet Duff. at 38 is affected with excessive pain in her left side situated a little below the last false rib somewhere near the region of the Kidney. This complaint is attended with great weakness vertigo & pain of head which arises at times to such a height, as to render her incapable of standing. In the morning she is frequently affected with a severe fit of coughing which is accompanied with heaviness of the chest & great sickness. She however seldom if ever expectorates any thing Belly very costive. Appetite bad & she complains of much thirst. Pulse slow & weak. menses regular. The present symptoms commenced about seven weeks ago after she had convalesced from an intermittent. She says however she has for these six years past been always troubled with pain in the part that is now affected. Most of the present symptoms are considered as consequences of the intermittent fever. But she thinks the pain of her side first originated after a delivery, about six years ago. She has not been able ever since that time to lift any weight, without feeling soon after a little pain in the part. but it has never till of late arisen to the degree at which it is at present felt.
