    Jean Grant

    1784

    No12. May 28th 1784

Jean Grant at 48 complains of great sickness attended with much uneasiness from wind in the stomach. This affection in general attacks her with increased severity at intervals of 8 days & for the most part remains with her other 8 days & in this alternate manner it has continued for more than 12 months. During the period when the complaint is most severe her appetite is very bad. Her menses have not been present for many years

About six years ago she says she was seized with a violent ague & ever since that time she has during the spring & easterly winds had some slight symptoms of an intermittent which at present is the case & to the shivering fits she attributes all her complaints.

She has lately been in the habit of drinking sea water one or twice in the week of her own accord. But has had no advice from any regular practitioner.
